I would like to extend a warm greeting and welcome to you on behalf of Saint Paul American School!
The SPAS mission is to provide a quality education that empowers students with life-long learning skills and prepares students for professional success in the global community by displaying content mastery, cultural literacy, critical thinking, communication skills, and personal & social responsibility.
I am beginning my first year at SPAS and my sixth year in China.
Prior to coming to Beijing in 2016, I had worked in government, business, education, and NGO’s in the United States and Eastern Europe. My own education includes degrees in history, political science, public administration, and a doctorate in education administration.
My doctoral research focused on transformation in U.S. university students due to their study abroad experiences. Since coming to China, I have used insights gained from those investigations to help Chinese high school students prepare for English language universities abroad and have conducted research on their subsequent academic and social adjustment to university. In 2020, I used my own high school students to help conduct research on the resilience of Chinese students in universities abroad during the global pandemic and high school experiences that helped them develop resilience.
I have been involved in these studies while serving as Independent Research Program Coordinator, Dean of Faculty, and Deputy Head of School for another international school in Beijing and for its launch of an additional campus in a southern province before returning to Beijing to join SPAS.
I am thrilled to be a part of the SPAS learning community and look forward to continuing my own growth as I encourage the development of everyone else in it, faculty, staff, and students!
