Saint Paul American School provides a full US curriculum, with over 40 courses offered, ranging from the introductory to AP level. Students also take courses in Chinese language, culture, history, and art.
For students needing more academic support there is a peer tutoring program, as well as a nightly study hall in which certified teachers provide additional help. All students participate in an afterschool activity or club of their choosing. Emphasis is given to the fine arts
I want to welcome all incoming and returning students and parents/guardians to the 2017-2018 school year! It is truly an honor and a privilege to return to Saint Paul American School and serve as your Principal for the upcoming school year. As I enter my fifth year at SPAS, I strive to motivate, inspire, and propel each member of the SPAS family to be their very best and maximize their potential.
I look forward to working with everyone to make sure that the connection between the school, the students, and family allows for nurturing and honing of their child’s skills. It is my hope that your student has a positive experience on our campus as we emphasize taking a holistic approach to student learning and focusing on all aspects of their lives – Academic Success, Physical, Social, Mental/Emotional overall health and more.
I encourage all students to take part in our updated activities and clubs as we are now offering opportunities for students to graduate with a STEM-Track diploma if they choose to focus on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. Students can also obtain Microsoft certifications when they participate in and complete coursework and assessments through our new partnership with Microsoft Imagine Academy. Additionally, our school has started a Coding Club and Design Club that will incorporate Minecraft for Education into the class! In addition to the STEM classes and clubs, we have added many new Arts clubs as well to include – Fashion Design, Drama Club, Improv/Acting and Debate Club.
These are just some of the new and exciting opportunities happening this year at SPAS. I also hope to see students participating in some of our extracurricular activities and athletics – our table tennis, soccer, basketball, badminton, and chess teams will compete in friendly exchanges and tournaments with schools throughout the Beijing Area Sports Exchange over the course of the first semester. Lastly, below you will see an updated vision and mission that was developed using a shared decision and vision making process, and updated goals for the 2017-2018 school year. Through continued communication, teamwork, patience, and hard work, I can assure you that we will make this year at Saint Paul American School, Beijing a truly wonderful experience for all. I wish you all the very best of luck in the upcoming school year!

"While accreditation is a set of rigorous protocols and research-based processes for evaluating an institution’s organizational effectiveness, it is far more than that. Today accreditation examines the whole institution—the programs, the cultural context, the community of stakeholders—to determine how well the parts work together to meet the needs of students." http://www.advanc-ed.org/
